field of air traffic management in Europe, i.e. the technological part of the Single European Sky initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To manage the development of SESAR, the European Union founded the SESAR Joint Undertaking in 2007 as a public-private partnership of the European Commission, Eurocontrol, and the aviation sector, including air navigation service providers.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>At the end of 2021, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sesarju.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking<\/a> (SESAR 3 JU) was established, succeeding its predecessor.<\/p>\n<p>The SESAR 3 programme builds on the achievements of previous SESAR research, and aims to drive further development of the European ATM system, supporting the creation of the Digital European Sky.\u00a0The programme consists of exploratory research, industrial research, and validation, as well as Digital Sky Demonstrators (DSDs) that will test the solutions needed for the implementation of the Digital European Sky in live operational The main difference is the inclusion of Eurocontrol \u2013 Network Manager as the fourth group. The tasks of the SDM have not changed with the new appointment. They primarily relate to the fulfillment of the CP1 regulation and the maintenance and implementation of the SESAR Deployment Program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                                    <\/div>\n style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Functional Airspace Block Central Europe (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fab-ce.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">FAB CE<\/a>) is a joint initiative of Croatia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and their air navigation service providers. It performs tasks within the Single European Sky legislative framework and provides technical support to the European Commission in the field of regulatory measures. It also acts as the network manager for the air traffic management network functions and collects the charges paid by airlines for using the air navigation services.
