Site Acceptance of COOPANS Platform

June 20, 2013

A site acceptance for the project of hardware and software upgrade to COOPANS (COOPeration of Air Navigation Service providers) was successfully completed today in Zagreb.

Thales and the Croatia Control team thus attained an important milestone in the project even earlier than contracted. This further secures a very demanding schedule by which Croatia Control will be operational with the COOPANS system in February 2014. A 30 million euros investment in the COOPANS system is financed by EBRD loan.

The new ATM system with 69 operational controller working positions installed in Zagreb and at four terminals (Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Zadar) is accompanied with a state-of-the-art simulator consisting of 20 positions and two test beds.

The COOPANS system, being the most advanced ATM system in Europe, with new operational functionalities such as 4D MTCD (Medium-Term Conflict Detection) and CPDLC (Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications), will facilitate Croatia Control to follow a path to the Single European Sky.

The partnership in COOPANS together with LFV, Naviair, IAA and Austro Control, has already brought significant economical and operational benefits to Croatia Control by sharing cost, resources and know-how through all phases of the project.
