33rd EAAP Conference

September 24, 2018

Croatia Control’s representatives are participating in the 33rd European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP) Conference being held September 24-28 in Dubrovnik, on the overall theme “Connecting People, Organizations and Technology in Aviation”, which is inspired by the increasing importance of a systems approach to aviation development and safety.

The conference gathering 280 participants from 48 countries was opened by André Droog, EAAP President, and, on behalf of CCL as one of the conference sponsors, greeted by Nino Karamatić, CCL’s Director of HRM, Legal and Financial Division.

“Out of 765 employees of ours, 272 of them are air traffic controllers, who have diverse programs helping them to cope better with stressful situations,” said Karamatić, adding that CCL conducts preventive and reactive stress management programs. “Preventive stress management includes workshops on stress, team resource management programs and medical recreation, whereas the reactive stress management pertains to a critical incident stress management program,” he added.

The conference will focus on aviation psychology development and human factors, just culture and reporting, the efficiency of air traffic management, behavior monitoring, disorientation and recovery, selection and validation, workload and fatigue, the training and mental health of aeronautical personnel.

Along the presentation of papers, the conference will include many workshops and a visit to the Dubrovnik air traffic control tower.
