Aeronautical Meteorology

Airplanes fly in the atmosphere, and we keep track of its status. Timely and accurate information on weather conditions is a prerequisite for flying safely. We perform measurements and weather observations, create weather forecasts as well as publish data on current weather and warnings for hazardous weather phenomena in aviation.

Severe Weather Phenomena in Aviation

Turbulence, aircraft icing, strong wind, wind shear, mountain waves, reduced visibility and thunderstorm are the most significant meteorological phenomena hazardous to aviation.

What We Do

Weather data is essential for a safe flight. This is why we collect weather data at our meteorological stations and via the national and international exchange of meteorological data.
