Aeronautical Information Service

The Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) Department is organised within air traffic management, and comprises the Aeronautical Publications Unit, with administrative operational hours, and the International NOTAM Office which works continuously H24. In the defined area of responsibility, this Department provides aeronautical information necessary for the safety, regularity and efficiency of both international and national air navigation.

Aeronautical information service

The Aeronautical Information Service comprises the collection, initial processing, editing, formatting, publication, storage and distribution of aeronautical information within the area of responsibility.

The working processes are based on provisions of the Air Traffic Law and supporting regulations, as well as on standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol).

Aeronautical information/data is provided in the form of Integrated Aeronautical Information Package (AIP, AIP AMDT/SUP, AIC, NOTAM and PIB, a list of valid NOTAMs and checklists), and is also available in other publications, such as the VFR Manual.

The process of migration to the European Database (EAD) was completed end 2007. From that time on, the Department has been providing aeronautical information via the following EAD modules: SDO, PAMS and INO. The eAIP is in course of preparation.

Quality system

The Department has been implementing a quality management system since 2005, according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. The objectives of applying this standard are: enhancement of work and job satisfaction, meeting user requirements, introducing a systematic, fact-based management approach and improving the relationship with business partners.

The provision of aeronautical information reflects team work of the employees in the Department, with their full responsibility for timeliness, accuracy and other elements of quality related to aeronautical information, bearing in mind its significance for the safety and efficiency of air traffic.
